Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg got some bad news this week when it was revealed that President Donald Trump does not expect her to live through his first term in office.
The Daily Caller reported that anonymous sources said that Trump expects to fill the seats of Justices Anthony Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Sonia Sotomayor during his first term. This would be in addition to nominating Neil Gorsuch, who he appointed to replace Anthony Scalia when he first took office.
Trump is reportedly extremely confident that Ginsburg, who is 84, will be giving up her seat very soon.
What does she weigh? 60 pounds?” Trump said of her.
Rumors have been swirling that Kennedy, 81, is getting ready to retire for months, so it’s unlikely that he will remain on the court for three more years. Many were surprised that Trump mentioned Sotomayor as a possible vacancy, since she is only 63 years-old. However, Trump feels that her longtime struggle with type-1 diabetes imperils her future on the court.
“Her health,” Trump said. “No good. Diabetes.”
Ginsburg has been an outspoken critic of Trump’s, recently saying that sexism was a “major, major factor” in his victory over Hillary Clinton.
